The IIT Madras BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology is the newest of the online BS degrees, covering aerodynamics, propulsion, flight dynamics and aerospace structures. It shares much of its Foundation level with Electronic Systems — the same English, C programming, circuits and Math for Electronics courses — before diverging sharply at Diploma into fluid mechanics, gas dynamics and aircraft design. Simulation tooling is taught explicitly, with dedicated CFD and finite element analysis courses feeding two design projects.

Eight theory courses totalling 32 credits. Six of them are shared with the Electronic Systems Foundation — English, C programming, circuits and the Math for Electronics sequence — which is why learners sometimes move between the two programmes early on. The two aerospace-specific courses, Introduction to Aerospace Systems and Engineering Mechanics, set up everything in the Diploma level.
Thirteen theory courses, two laboratories and two design projects totalling 52 credits — the heaviest Diploma level of any IITM BS programme. It runs from thermodynamics and fluid mechanics through aerodynamics, gas dynamics and flight dynamics, then applies them in CFD and FEA projects on real aircraft and spacecraft geometry.
Nine core courses, a structures laboratory and a capstone design project make up 37 credits, with a further 21 credits of electives. The core spans advanced structural mechanics, gas turbine and rocket propulsion, aero-elasticity and aerospace control, closing with a design project on micro and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Learners do not have to complete the full degree. Depending on the credits earned, the programme can be exited with any of the following:
EduVerse does not host notes, previous year papers or graded assignment solutions for this programme yet — our resource library currently covers the Data Science programme. This page documents the official course structure so you can plan terms and credits. If you have Aeronautics & Space Technology material to contribute, we would like to hear from you.
