The IIT Madras BS in Electronic Systems is an online degree focused on electronics hardware and embedded software. Where the Data Science programme leans on statistics and machine learning, Electronic Systems is built around circuits, digital design, sensors and embedded C — with a laboratory component at every level rather than purely theory courses. The programme runs 142 credits across Foundation, Diploma and Degree levels, and learners may exit with a certificate or diploma instead of completing the full degree.

Nine theory courses and five laboratory courses totalling 43 credits. The Foundation level builds the mathematics and circuits base that later levels assume, and it is where Electronic Systems diverges most visibly from Data Science: instead of statistics and Python, learners take Math for Electronics, Digital Systems and Embedded C, each paired with hands-on lab work.
Eight theory courses, three laboratories and two project courses totalling 43 credits. This level moves from individual components to whole signal chains — signals and systems, analog and digital design, DSP and sensors — and introduces the first assessed project work, so marks stop depending purely on quizzes and end terms.
Six core courses, one core laboratory, and a mix of department and open electives totalling 56 credits, with an optional apprenticeship track. The core covers electromagnetics, control engineering, FPGAs and product design; the elective basket is where learners specialise, from VLSI and IoT through to biomedical electronics.
Learners do not have to complete the full degree. Depending on the credits earned, the programme can be exited with any of the following:
EduVerse does not host notes, previous year papers or graded assignment solutions for this programme yet — our resource library currently covers the Data Science programme. This page documents the official course structure so you can plan terms and credits. If you have Electronic Systems material to contribute, we would like to hear from you.
