About Machine Learning Techniques

MLT works through the major families of learning algorithms and what each assumes about the data. It builds directly on Machine Learning Foundations and is more comfortable if that material is still fresh.

Topics covered

  • Linear and logistic models
  • Support vector machines and kernels
  • Trees and ensemble methods
  • Clustering and dimensionality reduction
  • Neural network basics
  • Model selection and evaluation

Where marks go: Questions test when a method is appropriate, not just how it works — learn each algorithm's assumptions and where it breaks.

What is in this collection

One Quiz 1 collection, one Quiz 2 collection and one end term collection.

1 × Quiz 1 collection
Papers from the first quiz of past terms.
1 × Quiz 2 collection
Papers from the second quiz of past terms.
1 × end term collection
Full-length final papers — the closest thing to a mock exam.

How to use these MLT past papers

  1. 1Sit one MLT paper properly before looking at anything else — timed, closed book, in a single sitting. It is uncomfortable and it is the only part that tells you the truth.
  2. 2Mark it honestly, then list the topics you lost marks on. That list is your revision plan; the paper itself was only the diagnostic.
  3. 3Keep at least one recent paper unopened until the week of the exam, so you have a clean dry run left.

Common questions

How many previous year papers are available for MLT?

There are 3 items for Machine Learning Techniques, an IITM BS Diploma in Data Science level subject. One Quiz 1 collection, one Quiz 2 collection and one end term collection. Everything opens directly, with no account needed.

Are these Machine Learning Techniques previous year papers free?

Yes. Everything on EduVerse is free to open and free to download. There is no paywall, no sign-up requirement for the study material, and nothing is held back behind an account.

Do I need to sign in to download MLT previous year papers?

No. The files are hosted on Google Drive and open in a new tab without signing in to EduVerse. Signing in is only needed for features that save things to your own account.

How should I use MLT previous year papers?

Attempt a paper under exam conditions before you look at any solution — timed, closed book, in one sitting. A paper you have read through is worth very little; a paper you have sat tells you exactly which topics you cannot do yet. Save at least one recent paper for the week of the exam.

Do previous year questions repeat in MLT?

Exact questions rarely repeat, but question patterns do — the same topics tend to be examined in the same style and at the same depth. Use past papers to learn the shape of the exam rather than to collect answers.

Are these official IIT Madras previous year papers?

No. EduVerse is an independent, student-run site and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to IIT Madras. Where anything here disagrees with the official course material or the institute's own announcements, the institute is right.

Is this MLT material current for my term?

This collection was last revised in April 2026. Syllabi and assessment patterns change between terms, so check the topic list on this page against your own course page before relying on it. If something is out of date, tell us and we will update or remove it.

A MLT file will not open — what should I do?

The files live on Google Drive, and sharing permissions occasionally change or a file gets moved. Report it on the contact page with the page address and we will re-point or replace the link. Broken links get looked at before anything else.

Can I contribute MLT previous year papers?

Yes, and it is how the library grows. Use the submit page to send a file or a link. Contributions are reviewed before they are published, and material you do not have the right to share will not be accepted.
