About Computational Thinking

Computational Thinking teaches you to break a problem down until it can be expressed as a procedure a machine could follow. Most of the work is done in pseudocode rather than a real language, which surprises people who expected to start programming immediately.

Topics covered

  • Decomposing problems into steps
  • Pseudocode and flowcharts
  • Iteration, selection and nesting
  • Searching and sorting procedures
  • Variables, state and tracing
  • Algorithmic efficiency, informally

Where marks go: The hard part is tracing: being able to say exactly what every variable holds after each pass of a loop, by hand, without running anything.

What is in this collection

Papers from the first quiz of past terms.
1 × Quiz 2 collection
Papers from the second quiz of past terms.
1 × end term collection
Full-length final papers — the closest thing to a mock exam.

How to use these CT past papers

  1. 1Sit one CT paper properly before looking at anything else — timed, closed book, in a single sitting. It is uncomfortable and it is the only part that tells you the truth.
  2. 2Mark it honestly, then list the topics you lost marks on. That list is your revision plan; the paper itself was only the diagnostic.
  3. 3Keep at least one recent paper unopened until the week of the exam, so you have a clean dry run left.

Common questions

How many previous year papers are available for CT?

There are 3 items for Computational Thinking, an IITM BS Foundation level subject. One Quiz 1 collection, one Quiz 2 collection and one end term collection. Everything opens directly, with no account needed.

Are these Computational Thinking previous year papers free?

Yes. Everything on EduVerse is free to open and free to download. There is no paywall, no sign-up requirement for the study material, and nothing is held back behind an account.

Do I need to sign in to download CT previous year papers?

No. The files are hosted on Google Drive and open in a new tab without signing in to EduVerse. Signing in is only needed for features that save things to your own account.

How should I use CT previous year papers?

Attempt a paper under exam conditions before you look at any solution — timed, closed book, in one sitting. A paper you have read through is worth very little; a paper you have sat tells you exactly which topics you cannot do yet. Save at least one recent paper for the week of the exam.

Do previous year questions repeat in CT?

Exact questions rarely repeat, but question patterns do — the same topics tend to be examined in the same style and at the same depth. Use past papers to learn the shape of the exam rather than to collect answers.

Are these official IIT Madras previous year papers?

No. EduVerse is an independent, student-run site and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to IIT Madras. Where anything here disagrees with the official course material or the institute's own announcements, the institute is right.

Is this CT material current for my term?

This collection was last revised in April 2026. Syllabi and assessment patterns change between terms, so check the topic list on this page against your own course page before relying on it. If something is out of date, tell us and we will update or remove it.

A CT file will not open — what should I do?

The files live on Google Drive, and sharing permissions occasionally change or a file gets moved. Report it on the contact page with the page address and we will re-point or replace the link. Broken links get looked at before anything else.

Can I contribute CT previous year papers?

Yes, and it is how the library grows. Use the submit page to send a file or a link. Contributions are reviewed before they are published, and material you do not have the right to share will not be accepted.

Still stuck? Ask us — or send material if you have something this page is missing.
